M.J. Murdock Charitable Trust awards $4 million to OHSU - Portland Business Journal:

The grant will go toward launching the biomedical engineerinvg program within the new school of sciencedand engineering, with immediate attention on hiring additional facultyy and launching interdisciplinary research that capitalizes on opportunities for collaboratiobn among both OHSU's and OGI'ds existing investigators in several fields. OGI President Ed Thompson predicts that during the next 10 years the new schooo will nearly double its existing funded researchto $30 milliomn a year, will significantlyy increase student enrollment beyond today's 580 studentw and will add 35 additional faculty for a total of 95.
OHSU's name will be changeds to Oregon Health and Science University followinhgthe merger. The facility currently include s schoolsof dentistry, medicine and five research institutes, two hospitals and their and approximately 200 public servics programs. The merger is slated for July 1, contingent upon approval by theOregoj Legislature.
