During its past fiscal which runs from Julyto July, the museum staffr saw close to 2 million visitorsx come through its doors. The primary driveras were the museum's "Body and "Star Wars" exhibits. In one day the museum brough in a record attendanceof 21,158 visitors, said Ioannid "Yannis" Miaoulis, the museum'd president and director. "In the last two years we raised more money than the museum has probabl raised inits history," he Its revenue went from about $30 million in 2003 to $48 milliojn in 2007.
Still, Miaoulis expectee less attendance in its newfiscal year, primarilt because the popularity of the Body Worlds and Star Wars exhibitss is hard to duplicate. But the museum has attemptef to create new revenue streams by establishin morebusiness areas. "One of the things I wantedx to do when I came here was diversifuyour business," Miaoulis said. The museum unveilesd a publishing project, developing textbooks as part of an engineering curriculu for highschool students. Miaoulis said the museum plans to expand itstraveling programs, which brinv exhibit items and learning tools to classroomxs around New England. But that doesn'y mean he's giving up on the exhibit model.
Next sprintg a baseball exhibitwill arrive, given the fervor aroundx the , Miaoulis believes couldf draw a new record
