The coffee giant says it has simplified recipesz to includemore high-quality ingredientx like whole grains, blueberries from Oregonh and cherries from Michigan. “Starbucks customers have been tellin us that they want better tastingf and healthier food options when they visiytour stores,” said Starbuckxs food category vice president Sandra Stark in a news releasee announcing the new “We answered their call with a deliciouss new menu of food made with real ingredients and more wholesom e options.” New menu items include a blueberry oat bar, a farmer’ws market salad and banana walnutg bread that Starbucks says “is nearly 30 percent real banana.
” Starbucka has been expanding its food menu in the last two years to enticr customers to visit more and to spendd more per visit. The company was also among the firsyt restaurant chains in the country to ban transa fat from its foodand beverages. Starbuck s (NASDAQ: SBUX) is closing hundreds of locations and cutting thousandds of jobs to trim expenses as revenue The company reported sales fell 8 percentlast quarter, followinfg a 9 percent decline in first quarter sales.
It is also facing pressure fromMcDonaldsw (NYSE: MCD), whose new coffee drinks are driving sales
