Ethics complaint against Hunt and Buckley dismissed - Dallas Business Journal:

The Oregon Government Ethices Commission has dismissed theRepublican Party’s complaint against House Speaker Dave a Gladstone Democrat, and Rep. Peter Buckley, the co-chair of the jointy Ways and Means Committee and an Ashland Bob Tiernan, chairman of the Oregon Republicanh Party, had suggested that Hunt and Buckleyh attempted to secure a “yes” vote on three tax measurex from Republican Greg Smith, of Heppner, by backinb several projects in Smith’s Eastern Oregon Ronald Bersin, the commission’s executive didn’t elaborate on the group’s “We have carefully reviewed your allegations and supporting material and do not find the allegations come withim the Commission’s jurisdiction,” he Bersin did tell Tiernan that the commissionh didn’t find any “personall financial benefit” gained by Buckley or Hunt.
Tiernan’ complaint alleged that Hunt and Buckley agree to earmark money for the district of in returnfor Smith’s vote on a key tax But Hunt said last week that his support for the projects in Smith’s district was Smith’s vote helped Democrats collect a 60 percenr “super majority” needed to enactf tax hikes. The Senate eventually passed the measure on Thursday aftera last-minute deal convinced Sen. Mark Hass, a Beaverto n Democrat, to change his stance. Businesds interests had opposed the tax which include boosts tothe state’xs corporate minimum, corporate income and high-brackeg income taxes.
