Hawaii ranks 15th in U.S. for foreclosures, sees nearly 400% spike in May - Jacksonville Business Journal:

Foreclosures were up 397.5 percent for the month compared with May and wereup 19.3 percent over April 2009, according to the latest report from RealtyTrac issued Hawaii ranked 15th in the natiojn for foreclosures in May, up from 23rd in April. Hawaiki had 816 foreclosure filingsin May. There were 684 foreclosur filings in April and 164 foreclosuress inMay 2008. Hawaiiu had a foreclosure rate of one filing for every621 households, according to the latest survey by the California-baserd real estate research firm. Nevada again had the highest foreclosure rate inthe country, with one filint for every 64 households. Californiw had the second highest rate for the followedby Florida.
California had the highest numbet of foreclosuresat 92,249. Vermont ranked 50th, with just six foreclosures at a rate of one filing forevery 51,9076 households. Nationally, there were 321,48o0 foreclosure filings for the month, down 6 percent from Aprilp and up nearly 18 perceny fromMay 2008, according to the report.
